This is as good as card magic gets
Three years in a row now, the highlight of the Blackpool Magic Convetion has been Thomas Badar. This brilliant creator has a routine of showing up to the convention with a single trick that he's been working on, and blowing the minds of every single person there. First there was Drop, then Jupiter, and this year, he blessed us with Lumino.
As far as I'm concerned, Lumino is a perfect card trick. It fools magicians, amazes laypeople, and it's easy enough to be someone's first effect.
A spectator freely selects and loses a card—say, the King of Spades—and can even shuffle the deck. You spread the cards face up, claiming to memorize the entire deck in 15 seconds. After squaring, you deal the cards into two piles: black cards face up, red cards face down. At the end, every black card has been placed correctly, and when the red pile is spread, it contains all the red cards along with a single intruder: the spectator’s chosen King of Spades.
Surprisingly, Lumino requires exactly zero memory work, every thing is done by the cleverly printed deck. You will always be in full control, meaning your performance can take center stage in your mind.
Lumino is available at any Murphy's Magic dealer, or you can check out with our featured dealer, Magic and Cards!
