What does it take to live up to the legacy of a master?
Since being given the honor of continuing Tony Anverdi's legacy, that's a question we've had to ask ourselves very frequently.
Anverdi, of course, was the progenitor of some of magic's finest technological effects like Color Match and Mental Dice. And he created these effects before the advent of Bluetooth, Wifi, or RFID.
So, when we decided to reintroduce the world to his Spirit Bell, we approached it from the perspective of "What would Tony make if he had access to our tech?" We think he'd approve.
Spirit Bell is a simple premise -- a bell that rings itself--so for the effect to work, it needs to be executed flawlessly. That's why we pulled out all the stops.
You would never guess that a technological wonderland exists beneath the neatly finished wood and worn brass of the Anverdi Spirit Bell. The super-slim wood base has no marks, charging ports, or panels, yet it conceals one of the most advanced pieces of magic available.
Ok, it's a bell that rings itself, and you can't see the electronics. How can you use it?
When we filmed the trailer, we used the setting of a seance, where the bell would act as "portal between worlds." This opens up the possibility to do any number of effects.
Have the spirits perform a lie detector routine where the bell will only ring when your spectator tells the truth. Use it to bring a new dimension to your mind reading routines with a ding every time you make a correct guess. We also include jumbo performance cards and one ESP deck to fit into a very special bonus routine.
