This effect leaves a permanent mark on your spectators
You already carry a sharpie everywhere you go, so why do you just carry a normal one? Pocket space is a hot commodity, and you should make sure that the ratio between volume and wonderment is maximized. That's why we came out with Magic Markers, a routine centered around your favorite permanent markers that got some of the best reactions we've ever seen.
The sharpie makes a perfect magical tool because they're so mundane that no one thinks twice about it. You can easily hand out a pen with the right font that says "Your Card" and they'll be none the wiser...
And that's exactly how this routine starts.
You hand out this gimmicked pen to two spectators, and both select cards. You ask "wouldn't it be incredible if 'your card' was written on that Sharpie?" Obviously they say yes. When you tell them to look, you're sure to get something between an eyeroll and laugh.
That's fine. It disarms them and draws attention away from what they think is just a gag.
The routine goes on, and after some magical moves, you ask again "wouldn't it be incredible if 'your card' was written on that Sharpie?"
This time, they look down and see the text has changed to spell out their exact card. But what about the other spectator's card. You ask them to open the sharpie up. Rolled up inside the pen is the other card!
Magic Markers comes with three different reveals, plus the 'Your Card' pen. When we performed this to film the trailer, it was some of the biggest reactions we've ever seen!
