Joel Dickinson had a humble dream. Perfection. He wanted a routine that looked great to the audience, felt fun to perform, and was completely impossible. And that's what Break Thru is. Perfection.
Break Thru is Joel's take on an impossible penetration. You may be familiar with this type of plot: a sharp object, maybe a needle or pen knife is stabbed through a tuck case. It's passed all the way through. But at the end, the magician reveals that a solid object has been inside the tuck the whole time.
Joel makes some tweaks and innovations to this routine that really set Break Thru apart from the competition. Instead of just a single needle, he threads an entire ribbon directly through the deck box. This visual pops and makes the revelation even more baffling.
Our favorite part of Break Thru is that the acrylic block, the solid object inside the deck, can be completely examined. There is no gimmick to be found.
There aren't many trick that offer this level of intrigue and impossibility that you can basically perform out of the box. The gimmick does all the work for you, meaning this professional trick is accessible even for the most amateur performer.
