The first major retrospective of renowned Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala in Japan opens at The Tokyo Station Gallery in April 2025, in collaboration with EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Tapio Wirkkala Rut Bryk Foundation and Blue Sheep. The exhibition showcases 300 works, including his revolutionary Ultima Thule glass collection originally created for Iittala in the 1960s. Iittala supports the exhibition with a dramatic installation featuring close to 400 Ultima Thule glasses.
To mark this historic moment, Iittala is also launching a special edition Ultima Thule sake glass crafted from Finnish sand.
