Maschinen Krieger (or Ma.K.) is a sci-fi world created by the renowned Japanese artist and sculptor Kow Yokoyama in the 1980s. It was originally called SF3D and was inspired by the armor and aircrafts used in WW1 and WW2 and American sci-fi films such as Star Wars and Blade Runner.
For hobby related goods, Maschinen Krieger items are usually model kits, with some action figures or kit accessories also being made. While they were originally made by Nitto, currently Kaiyodo, WAVE, & Hasegawa are the main manufacturers of Ma.K. kits.
Ma.K. kits are a bit more complex than the character kits from companies like Kotobukiya or Good Smile, and require the use of tools and paint. While all of the kits are based on military or mecha styled machines and spacesuits, they also allow for a lot of freedom to be creative. We recently ran a Ma.K. model contest, and many talented modelers submitted very creative works, taking advantage of the flexibility these kits allow (See the results HERE)!
If you haven't tried building one, or are newer to modelling and up for a challenge, check out our recommended Maschinen Krieger kits below, or click the link to see all Maschinen Krieger kits available at HLJ!
