Hayward’s has another of our popular Vintage, Antique & Collectable timed online auctions set up and ready to go. With over 770 lots of antique, vintage, retro and more modern items, you’ll be sure to find something of interest. Bidding starts at 5:00pm today, Thursday the 12th of February with the first lots closing on Tuesday the 17th at 6:00pm.
We have a great range of watches and jewellery in this sale, with a fine selection of vintage gold and sterling silver cased pocket watches and other gold and silver rings, gold sovereign and half sovereign, brooches, necklaces, paua, pearl, semi-precious stone and costume jewellery. There’s a large and ornately carved hardwood Asian dowry chest by the front door, a beautiful Victorian mahogany campaign chest-on-chest with Ross & Co. Dublin label, a Victorian Scotch chest w/ flame mahogany drawer fronts and turned wooden knobs with mother-of-pearl inlay, an impressive Regency period walnut & elm astragal glazed book-case, Edwardian rimu & beech sideboard, a tall Victorian kauri mirror-back sideboard, ornate timber bird cage, and you can’t miss the eye-catching gilded figural clock in a Victorian glass dome display case.
Crown Lynn items include large swans, shell and other vases, a Titian spider web vase, and an unusual Japanese-style Kelston Potteries footed vase. There’s also mid-60s Dorothy Thorpe design “Pine” pattern tableware, Blue Mountain Pottery tea ware, a retro Broadhurst Ironstone "Calypso" dinner set, Simpsons Chanticleer / Belle Fiore and other Susie Cooper, Gibsons Staffordshire, Booths, Grindley, Carlton Ware and Crown Devon items. Copeland Spode, Woods Royal Doulton tea sets, Moorcroft Eventide and floral vases.
Vintage cartes de visite portrait photographs from Dunedin studios, military and other medals & badges, New Zealand stamps and coins, a range of vintage books from a 1743 John Wesley treatise to a large Taschen volume on Diego Rivera, Whites Aviation and other art, botanical, medical, military and local history topics. Signed copies include Major Fred Waite’s The New Zealanders at Gallipoli and various art books by Peter McIntyre. Brass scale weights, spirit kettles, candlesticks and figurines, Wedgwood, Beswick and Blue Mountain animals, Royal Dux figures, antique telescope and microscope, cased sextants.
You’ll find numerous colourful glass genie bottles and some wonderful uranium glass pieces including an unusual frilled blue & green basket, a cranberry and uranium jug, an art nouveau vaseline glass cylinder lamp or lantern shade, float bowl, water jug and more. NZ studio pottery from Brian Gartside, Barry Ball, Frederika Ernsten, Peter Collis, Brendan Adams, a Hanmer pottery table lamp, Blue Mountain and other pottery figurines, Doulton character jugs and a very nice selection of Lladro figures. Art glass vases and paper weights, glass bottles, Lane's Dunedin stoneware crock, BP & Shell oil bottles, 1:18 scale die-cast model cars, cast concrete garden figures, bench and planters, coal bins, travel trunks.
