Eduard Hallberg made Finnish alpine skiing history by finishing third in the Levi World Cup slalom on Sunday. It’s been a long time since the last Finnish podium in slalom — those came from Halti team athletes Tanja Poutiainen in 2013 and Kalle Palander 18 years ago, in 2007. The atmosphere at the foot of Levi Black during and after Eddie’s run was electric!
“It feels amazing — it hasn’t really sunk in yet. There were quite a few interviews after the race, and I’ve received an incredible number of congratulatory messages. I get to spend a couple of days at home now, but then it’s already time to head off to the next race where I plan to keep this same level,” Eddie told the Halti team when he stopped by Halti’s headquarters for a quick medal coffee on Monday.
Another Fearless Finn, Rosa Pohjolainen, showed true sisu in Saturday’s women’s race, as she made a strong comeback to the World Cup after severe injuries. She qualified for the second run and finished 28th overall.
