Modern & Contemporary Art
Created in 1982 by the French American artist Arman, this monumental work titled School of Fish II, a wall relief composed of vice grips, transforms industrial hardware into a rhythmic, aquatic abstraction. The work stands as a quintessential expression of Nouveau Réalisme and the philosophical lineage that stretches back to Marcel Duchamp's readymades. One of Arman's groundbreaking "Accumulation" works, the piece hails from the Hechinger Collection, formed over decades by the hardware-industry pioneer John Hechinger Sr.
