Louise Nevelson's Symphony Three captures the artist's distinctive sense of rhythm and harmony, translating her monumental assemblages into a striking two-dimensional composition. With its interplay of form, shadow, and texture, the work feels both architectural and lyrical — an elegant reflection of Nevelson's mastery of abstraction. As a holiday gift, Symphony Three offers timeless sophistication: a work that embodies creativity, balance, and quiet strength, perfectly suited for collectors who appreciate modern art with depth and presence.

My favorite pick is a stunning pair of prints by April Gornik, Silhouetted Trees and Sky Through Trees (2003). Created as an optional set, they complement each other: one highlights the silhouettes of trees against a glowing sky, while the other draws your eye through shadowy branches toward the light beyond. Gornik used a mix of soft ground, spit bite, and white ground etching techniques to build texture and tone. They make a meaningful holiday gift as a pair or on their own.

I chose this piece because it reflects the spirit of the Bay Area I'm proud to call home — creative, outspoken, and connected to community. Street artist fnnch has become a local favorite for his cheerful "honey bears," which began as murals across San Francisco and grew into sought-after works. His BLM Bear from 2020 marks a moment when art and activism converged. It pairs his playful style with a message of solidarity.

Andy Warhol's Souper dress is a piece of Pop Art history. Disposable paper clothing became a huge fad in the 1960s, functioning as an advertising tool. Following the landmark exhibit of Warhol's signature Soup Can series from 1962, the Souper dress was manufactured by The Campbell Soup Company, and conveys an iconic intersection of fashion, art, and consumerism. As the dress was meant to be disposable, they have become increasingly rare to find, especially in good condition. This piece would make a fun holiday gift for both Warhol collectors and those who appreciate 1960s culture.

A perfect gift for the design lover or perpetual host/hostess, this ceramic tea set by Brian Calvin captures his highly stylized portraiture on a 3D surface. Combining elements of Cubism and Pop Art, Calvin's exaggerated characters blend figuration and abstraction with a cartoonish feel. Tea Together comes housed in an original custom box, so all you need is wrapping paper!

In Nuclear Family, Matt Gondek reimagines an instantly recognizable pop-culture family through his signature "deconstructed" aesthetic. The painted cast-vinyl figures are both playful and unsettling, brightly colored yet fractured, their cheerful surfaces peeled away to expose skull-like forms beneath. Balancing humor with critique, the piece embodies Gondek's ongoing fascination with the destruction of the familiar and the tension between innocence and chaos. With its vivid palette, commanding sculptural scale, and limited-edition exclusivity, Nuclear Family transcends mere décor, standing as a dynamic conversation piece and a striking acquisition for the holiday season.

This is a rare print by Hans Bellmer, the artist famed for his unsettling exploration of the female form through handmade, life-sized dolls. Bellmer's Surrealist aesthetic used mannequin-like figures as metaphors for desire and psychological tension, their jointed, plaster-covered frameworks twisted into disturbingly contorted poses. The first of these "artificial girls," created in 1934 with his wife Margarete, launched one of the most provocative series in modern art.
This print focuses on hands and arms, with dotted highlights accenting the joints-an echo of the mechanical anatomy that defines his sculptural work. The back of the frame indicates prior consignment or ownership by Virginia Lust Gallery. Ms. Lust, wife of Herbert Lust-whose private collection of Bellmer's work was the largest in the world-once observed, "...today, for the young people... the only Surrealist they look at anymore is Bellmer. And why is that? Because the main subject of Surrealism... is sex." (Periel Aschenbrand, The Chosen Ones, Tablet, March 17, 2017). With its surrealistic imagery and art-historical pedigree, this print would make a striking and conversation-starting holiday gift for any serious collector-or anyone drawn to the beautiful and bizarre.

In Paula Scher's YOU ME, concentric lines ripple outward like quiet echoes, gently joining two words into a shared space. Against a backdrop of deep indigo and woodgrain texture, the print reminds us that the holidays do not need grandeur; sometimes, they only need presence. Whether it's chosen family or kindred spirit, this piece honors the simple, powerful act of being together. It's a visual embrace — just you, just me, and everything that matters in between.

Perfect for the holidays - and every occasion worth remembering — these works remind us that celebration is not just an occasion, but a state of mind.

Gregory Siff's Untitled (James Dean)
compresses his pop-meets-gesture vocabulary into an intimate square. The portrait has a fast, diaristic pulse, with lines and wash that feel torn from a storyboard, which suits Siff's larger project of fusing abstraction, pop, and memory into emblematic images that carry nostalgia and immediacy. Line and wash feel storyboard-quick, turning Hollywood myth into talismanic glyphs. The red ground sprays into a diagonal spotlight, so a striding Dean sits while icons orbit him. The palette stays spare and the line swings from thick to wiry, with drips and spatters that keep the surface alive. From across the room, the arrangement locks into a clear rhythm. Up close, the sprayed edges and layered text feel made, not manufactured. That mix of immediacy, memory, and painterly nerve is why I
like it, and why it reads as a crisp entry point for a collection.
