From Kandinsky to Kusama, Heritage's October 16 Prints & Multiples Auction Charts a Century of Innovation
Highlights include Warhol's Birth of Venus series, Johns' personal Untitled etching and Celmins' meditative ocean surface alongside works by emerging contemporary powerhouses
Heritage’s October 16 Prints & Multiples Signature®Auction continues the auction house’s strength in Modernism and Pop Art while expanding substantively into works by major contemporary artists.
“This event offers a breadth and depth we haven’t seen in seasons past, from iconic Warhols, Ruschas and Picasso ceramics to groundbreaking works by Banksy, Yayoi Kusama and Julie Mehretu,” says Desiree Pakravan, Heritage’s Consignment Director of Prints and Multiples. “With more than 100 lots, there is something for every collector: accessible works for new enthusiasts and exceptional museum-quality pieces.”
Contemporary Voices and Pop Icons
From global provocateurs to emergent powerhouses, this auction brings together an extraordinary lineup of contemporary artists. Banksy’s Love is in the Air (2003) is a cultural touchstone, blending protest imagery with instantly recognizable force. Jeff Koons’ Monkey Train (2007) channels his pop irreverence, while Rashid Johnson’s
Untitled Anxious Red
(2021) exemplifies the artist’s intensity, coinciding with his current Guggenheim exhibition. Tschabalala Self’s Out of Body (2019) and Julie Mehretu’s Untitled (Pulse) (2013) add distinctive voices, alongside Ai Weiwei’s Year of the Ox
(2021), which reframes the zodiac through Warholian repetition.

Bid Protection
Bid Protection allows you to ensure you are not outbid by automatically increasing your bid to the next full increment if you are outbid during the live event. This protects you from being "sniped" by a single increment. Bid Protection can be entered on all items except the current lot and the next upcoming lot in a Live Auction.
Note: The extra increment won't be placed until the item is up for live bidding, so it is possible that you could be outbid by a bid placed prior to live bidding, such as another proxy bid, live proxy bid, mail bid, etc., which could result in your losing the lot by that one increment. For the same reason, it is also possible that a currently losing bid with bid protection placed could potentially win the lot once the lot is subject to live bidding and the Bid Protection increment(s) is placed. |
Buyer's premium
A Buyer's Premium is charged in addition to the successful bid. The applicable Buyer's Premium for bids placed with Heritage for this Auctions is 25% of the successful bid (minimum $49) per lot.. |
 |
Heritage Live! allows you to place late proxy bids and compete live against the auction floor from your PC or mobile device*. We recommend placing proxy bids before the live session in the unlikely event either side experiences technical problems during the auction.
Note: Proxy bidding ends ten minutes prior to the session start time. Live Proxy bidding on Heritage Live now starts within 2 hours of when the auction opens for proxy bidding and continues through the live session. |
