I used to be able to select internet options from the browser and then I would receive the message "This option has been cancelled due to restrictions on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". However, now I don't receive anything and still cannot access the internet options. I tried to access via the control panel and receive the message "Access to this feature has been disabled by a restriction set by your administrator". I have my account set as the administrator and I have tried by signing in as an administrator and no difference. I have tried to change the restrictions via the registry editor and HKEY_CURRENT_USER (folder was not viewed) and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE without success. Any assistance would be very appreciated. -- comprn ------------------------------------------------------------------------ comprn's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/comprn.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-security/1030131.htm http://forums.techarena.in

Do a thorough scan with at least two or more updated malware programs.....
1. Open "regedit.exe" 2. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Policies/Microsoft/Internet Explorer 3. Now delete a key "NoBrowserOptions" or change its value to 0. -- Ramesh Kumar MVP RAMESH KUMAR Microsoft MVP: 'My MVP Profile' (https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/Ramesh.Kumar) My Blog: 'It's My Windows' (http://itsmywindows.com) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ramesh Kumar MVP's Profile: http://winvistaclub.com/forum/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://winvistaclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20984

You may have a security program you recently installed that locks the current user from performing changes to the internet options. This prevents malicious web sites from performing changes (behind your back) while actively using the browser. Shut down the browser. Go to the start menu. Right click on Internet Explorer. Go to internet properties. See if you can get into internet options from there to make your changes. -- Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "comprn" wrote in message news:comprn.3f0p7b@DoNotSpam.com... > > I used to be able to select internet options from the browser and then I > would receive the message "This option has been cancelled due to > restrictions on this computer. I have tried a few things. I logged on as an adminstrator and deleted the No Browser Options and I tried accessing internet options by right clicking on the icon. I still get the error message. I read some other threads where people were having issues re: inetcpl.cpl file was not in System 32 file but mine is. When I read the properties for the file, the "Trusted Installer" user has full control and all other users have read and read/execute access. If I didn't mention before, I have the vista business version and I am running the CA Security suite that was provided by my internet provider. -- comprn ------------------------------------------------------------------------ comprn's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/comprn.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-security/1030131.htm http://forums.techarena.in
