I have had vista sp1 for a while now and have just recived a new Q6600 i hace installed it and the bios identifies it correctly. However device manager still thinks I have my E4400 installed see picture... http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk73/calitoxs/Untitled222.jpg I am not sure what is wrong or why it thinks I still have my dual core installed. Any help would be nice. Thanks. There is a Microsoft support file on this issue. Apparently it's reading from the registry, and doesn't update correctly. 'Device Manager does not show updated processor information on a Windows Vista-based computer or on a Windows Server 2008-based computer' (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930861/en-us) Simple fix really, just uninstall the processor and reinstall the drivers and that should fix it. -- SgtBaxter Q9450@3.4 - Asus P5Q Deluxe - 8GB Corsair Dominator @ 1066 - 2x 750GB Seagate - Asus 4850 - CoolerMaster RealPower Pro 850W - Cosmos 1000 - CoolerMaster V8 CPU Cooler
Thanks for your reply. Before you amde that post i had already found that uninstalling the processor could make it redetect it. And the reason it was only picking up 2 cores was because I only had 2 cores neabled in the bios. Thanks for your help anyway. -- calitoxs ------------------------------------------------------------------------ calitoxs's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/calitoxs.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-hardware-devices/1037062.htm http://forums.techarena.in
