Using Vista Home Premium.... I have a headphone/microphone headset with RCA-style connetors (NOT USB). When I plug both connectors into my PC (Dell XPS), I get sound, but cannot use the microphone. When I right-click the SOUND icon in my system tray, and select RECORDING DEVICES, the window says NO AUDIO DEVICES INSTALLED. I reviewed the Device Manager and there are no warning icons. This headset/mic combo worked fine in XP. What do I need to do to get Vista to recognize the mic?
Hi All don't know if this helps any but... I just loaded vista ultra and the sound card and its driver were not vista compatible nor was creative lab going to up date the driver for vista it was the live 5.1 card. Hade to get a new sound card vista approved and then in vista settings,de-mute the device setting under mic. the new sound card came with software to turn on and off devices.
