dual booting with recovery media
IIf I set up a vista/linux dual boot system on my new laptop, and
subsequently need to re-install vista, will the vista recovery disks
that came with the laptop be sufficient or do I need to buy a separate
full vista installation disk? I'm worried that the recovery disks will
blast the linux partition.

They will. Recovery disks will normally put the machine back to the state in
which you received it from the factory....

The recovery disks, recovery partitions, and downloadable recovery
.iso files from Dell will wipe out the entire hard drive. Then it/they
will restore the entire hard drive to the state it was in when it was
delivered to you. Not only will all files be wiped out, all partitions
that you may have created for other OSes and their swap files and
data will be erased as well. I wiped out a dual-booted Ubuntu install-
ation that way. I assume that the situation is similar with other OEMs.
