Installing DirectX9 on Vista with DirectX10
Hey guys.. Want to confirm from the Vista clan that Chessmaster support
statement is correct.. What do you guys think?

I am running Vista Ultimate with directx 10. My video card is compliant with
and supports directx 10 as does my sound card. Do I have to install the
directx 9.0c that comes with Chessmaster 11 in order to get it to run? So
far I have not been able to get it to run on my machine. I did not install
directx 9.0c. I was afraid that this would screw up my directx 10
installation.

Yes, install DirectX 9.0c. It won't hurt anything with your DirectX 10, as
they're separate DLLs.

Hope this helps!

Re: Installing DirectX9 on Vista with DirectX10
Try it. The worst thing that may happen is that dx9 won't install...

Re: Installing DirectX9 on Vista with DirectX10
Yep, the info is correct.

When you install DX9 it will only add the files that don't already exist
in DX10. When done, your pc will still play DX10 games exactly as before
but will now also be fully DX9 compatible.

There's a lot of games out there that require these missing DX9 files so
this is the solution for many Vista woes.

Re: Installing DirectX9 on Vista with DirectX10
Better option,

'Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime'

Updates all DX 9 and DX 10 files.
