Hey guys.. Want to confirm from the Vista clan that Chessmaster support statement is correct.. What do you guys think? -------------------------------------------- Posted Wed July 09 2008 07:59 I am running Vista Ultimate with directx 10. My video card is compliant with and supports directx 10 as does my sound card. Do I have to install the directx 9.0c that comes with Chessmaster 11 in order to get it to run? So far I have not been able to get it to run on my machine. I did not install directx 9.0c. I was afraid that this would screw up my directx 10 installation. It won't hurt anything with your DirectX 10, as they're separate DLLs. Hope this helps! ------------------------------------- Posts: 827 | Registered: Sun August 22 2004 Ignored post by KHollister posted Wed July 09 2008 09:07 Show Post nargd Posted Wed July 09 2008 11:59 Hide Post Thanks for the advice. Try it. The worst thing that may happen is that dx9 won't install...
Yep, the info is correct. When you install DX9 it will only add the files that don't already exist in DX10. When done, your pc will still play DX10 games exactly as before but will now also be fully DX9 compatible. There's a lot of games out there that require these missing DX9 files so this is the solution for many Vista woes. CB900F wrote: > Hey guys.. Better option, 'Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime' (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en) Updates all DX 9 and DX 10 files. -- stormy13
