The Expansion updater is not running in Elevated (Admin) Mode. Some of the
earlier expansions sometimes do this, you can go to thesims2.com and
download the patch for your expansion that'll ensure Sims 2 is up to date.
You can also look for The Sims 2 Updater file, it's something like
TS2UPDTR.EXE and you can find it in the Sims2 Expansion "TSBin" folder.
Just right-click and choose Run as Admin to start.
Another suggestion would be to turn off UAC before trying to install The
Sims 2, but like I said, the current expansions should work without issue.
