This is a long shot, i'm trying to play The Settlers (yes the first one from way back in 1994) under Vista. This game worked fine in XP but in Vista even with compatibility enabled I get an error saying it can't run in full screen mode. When using dosbox I get the error "PCM sound hardware not found." Has anyone successfully got this game to work under Vista? I'm aware it's a very old game but I used to love playing it. Any help advice would be appreciated! :eek: -- Lones

If you install XP video drivers then you can run DOS games full screen but you lose the ability to use Aero and DX10. (Also there's a potential stability loss as well). As for your error with DOSBox it's likely you didn't configure the sound settings correctly. SFX: SoundBlaster16 Port 220 IRQ 7 DMA 1 or 5 Music: General MIDI Port 330
Try http://games.asobrain.com/ and find the game Xplorers. I play a Settlers clone (very good one) on this website.
