I have been using Windows Backup to secure files on a Vista Home Premium laptop to a disk on my XP desktop. Three days ago the laptop fried its mainboard and is now in hospital. Of course we are all hoping for a speedy recovery, but meantime all the files are tucked away in .zip's in a tree of folders. Any way of using XP to restore the files into a structure that users can navigate? Steve.
hi Steve, apparently is an event that few of us, unlucky guys, have and therefore not worth of much attention. I've found this hint helpful, at least to restore the most important things, while waiting for the recovery from the hospital: http://blogs.technet.com/filecab/archive/2007/06/19/how-windows-vista-backup-uses-zip-files-to-store-backups-and-how-to-extract-files-from-zips.aspx regards "Steve" wrote: > I have been using Windows Backup to secure files on a Vista Home Premium > laptop to a disk on my XP desktop.
