If I make a folder +h +s, the search function no longer does anything when I browse into that folder and type something in the search bar. It doesn't say there are no results, it just does nothing. Not even in advanced search. Is this a bug? Is there a way around this? I hope someone can help me with this. Thanks in advance!

I really would like to see an answer to this. If anyone could help (like try to replicate it and post findings) it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Well, actually, Vista will search any folders at all you have told it to search. You have total control over which they are. Check out the advanced features. You can check off any disk and or directory you wish. It is only the default setup that doesn't include many folders. Also, be sure to set Windows Explorer to show hidden AND system files, or they will be invisible to you. After all the results are shown in Windows Explorer. Once you get things set the way you want them, you can forget all about indexing, it will take care of itself. Good luck. Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately it doesn't help me very much: in my first message I said that I didn't get any results in advanced mode either. I'll try to explain it with screenshots: http://www.darkbulb.com/searchproblem.png . Can anyone take those same steps and see what happens? Thanks!
