Troubleshooting agent proxy.
Hi guys,

Since i downloaded the MP'S for Active directory (on my test lab) i'm
getting an error in the monitoring tab:
"Agent proxying needs to be enabled for a health service to submit discovery
data about other computers".

i search on the web for answers, and i found an article which explains that
i need to go to: Administration - Management Servers - right click the
management server - properties - security, and i see in the bottom that the
"V" is checked on "allow this server to act as a proxy"...

My SCOM is with SP1, and the agents versions are:6.0.6278.0 (latest).
i downloaded a utillity that a guy named boris developed, the purpose of
that utillity is to check if the my scom server is giving mr a result of
"TRUE" if it configures as a proxy agent, and i'm getting the "TRUE" result.

so, after trying to solve this on my own, i'll appriciate your help guys.

Best Regards,
Nahum
Israel.

Re: Troubleshooting agent proxy.
Hi נחום,

Have you also enable this on all your domain controllers? You will have to
do it to get the AD MP to work.

Re: Troubleshooting agent proxy.
There is a good explanation and troubleshooting blog on this :
http://blogs.msdn.com/mariussutara/archive/2007/11/09/agent-proxying-alert.aspx

But it does look like AD is the issue here. A full(ish) list of management
packs that need the proxy setting enabled can be found here:

Cheers

RE: Troubleshooting agent proxy.
On the error it will list a monitoring id -- copy that and open a Operations
manager command shell (powershell) in the shell type:

get-monitoringobject -id 99999999999999999999 | ft DisplayName

This will return a server that will need the proxy agent enabled. This will
be the type of DC, SMS (SCCM), Clustered server etc.,
