Re: Weird Issues with Dell MP
I've had this issue a few times. There is kind of a convoluted fix, its
mainly with the Dell SA (Server Admin) software itself. (I created a Dell
case for this and they are looking at alot of the SCOM/Dell SA issues,
including lot's o' WMI script issues...)
Might want to try it on like 4 servers first, see what you get.
1st thing to try:
Try restarting all Dell SA services on the machines.
If that don't fix it then:
Run the 'Flush Health Service State and Cache' in the SCOM UI. Should be
under: "Operations Manager" > "Agent" > "Agent Health State" --> On the
right under the Agent State view, highlight the appropriate agent and select
the 'Flush Health Service State and Cache' task. Will take some time.
(Note: The task stops then starts the SCOM agent, but I've had it not start
it up again and had to do that manually.)
Still no go:
Try a repair of the SCOM agent under administration. (Don't think that ever
worked for me however.)
Still not working:
Either re-install the Dell SA software or update to 5.4. This requires no
downtime to accomplish in either scenario. I will warn that the 5.4 software
will change the firmware requirements so some objects such as the RAID
controller will be in a warning state until the firware is updated... It's
annoying as heck to me.
Last thing to try, (Hope it doesn't get here... I've had to do this to 2
systems out of 120.)
Un-install both the SCOM agent and the Dell SA software. Re-install both
starting with the Dell SA software then the SCOM agent. Again this should
require downtime, but don't take my word for it... Best to tackle after
hours.)
I had about 8 systems not report the Dell Stuff to SCOM, and most of them
went went away after installing SP1. (Most likely the agent update there...)
After the update I had 3 of them that still didn't work. The 2nd step
listed corrected 1 of them, then the last 2 required the whole process. (A
bit ugly, but got the job done.)
Hope that helps.

Re: Weird Issues with Dell MP
Hi Toby,
Thank you for detailed explanation regarding this issue. I may have fixed
mine too but it was a pain. I imported all management pack dependent on Dell
MP and removed those first. After I removed all those, I went ahead and
removed the Dell MP and reimported back in. Now it is working again. I had
SP1 installed long time ago. I think mine was caused by latest scom2007 hot
fixes. Do you want to share the ticket number for Dell? I am thinking about
calling them myself as their MP is horrible. Thanks.
