Re: OpsMgr SP2 when?
PaulD,
Can you describe the GUI performance issues you are seeing? Please include
the View Name (Alert, State, Diagram, etc) and how many items you are seeing
in the view. Also, can you describe what operation / action you are
performing at the time. IE Does it take a long time to load the view, or is
it interacting (scrolling, resolving, opening Health Explorer, etc) with the
view that's the issue.
Any information you can share with me on this will give me some guidance on
what areas to try to focus on for SP2.

Re: OpsMgr SP2 when?
I have 116 web application.
RMS>ops console>authoring>monitors
HealthService.exe is constantly eating 25% on 4 CPUs
Now Authoring>web applications>edit any app>Apply
RMS 4xCPU=100% for MS.Mom.Sdk.ServiceHost.exe, since now no one can work
with OpsMgr console till changes are saved.
As soon as changes are save CPU load 25% for some time and suddenly 4xCPU
load = 100 for MS.Mom.ConfigServiceHost.exe for about 10 minues. Again no
one can work with OpsMgr console.

Re: OpsMgr SP2 when?
PaulD,
We do know that we have some performance issues around Web Application
Monitoring. We are looking at what we can do in SP2 to help address some of
those issues both from the monitoring side of things and from the UI side.
I've got a a few questions about how you've got this setup. I think there's
some things we can do to make the experience better for you, depending on
how things are setup currently.
1. Do you have all 116 web applications set to the same Watcher node, and
that Watcher Node is the RMS in this case? I think this is one of the root
causes for your really high HealthService.exe CPU usage on the RMS.
Ideally, you want several watcher nodes in this case, each monitoring 20-50
websites each (depending on the amount of things you are collecting for each
site).
2. What Management Pack are you saving these Web Applications to? I really
suggest NOT storing it into the Default Management Pack. Create one or more
Management Packs to store these Web Applications in. That should make
saving and recomputing the configuration (ConfigService.exe) take less time
and resources.
3. When you configure these Web Applications, so you have one Web
Application in Ops Console-->Authoring Space--> Management Pack Templates-->
Web Application, with that one web application having 116 Web Requests? Or,
when you navigate tot he Web Application list in the Console, do you see a
list of 116 items? Feel free to post or email me a screenshot of what you
are seeing to make things easier to understand. Just remove online. from my
email address michpear@online.microsoft.com
4. What's the polling interval? Is it the default of 2 minutes? The
higher the interval, the more data that we'll have to collect, and the
higher the load on the HealthService.exe
Thanks for the feedback on this. I hope we can work towards a better
Operations Manager user experience for you!
Have a great weekend!
