Web Monitors - Alert description / Mass importing / Retry Count
This is a 3 fold question.

1. Has there been any updated information in terms of the alert
description being fixed so it will be displayed properly in sp1?
Addtional what is the value suppose to be in the email piece so it
does pull the correct value out for Web Monitors?

2. What is the 'retry count' option in Configure Settings section of
the web monitors? What happens when it is set to 0 in terms of how
the monitor actually will work? Does it just test it based on your
interval time then that is it. What if it goes in error, then it uses
the retry count? Not sure i understand how this works.

3. I saw a previous post about mass importing web monitors from the
command shell using powershell. I was wondering how deep you can go
in terms of using that? What pieces of the monitor are you able to
create by command line? can you only create the base shell, or can
you also modify various settings of the monitor? Does this still work
in sp1.

Any help in with these and how they've been affected in SP1 would be
appreciated.

Thanks.

Kevin.

Re: Web Monitors - Alert description / Mass importing / Retry Count
Hi kevinrprice@gmail.com,

Not sure I have all answers for you, but I can try and some other will fill
in I guess

It is the management pack that controll the alert description. Do you mean
that you have created your own rules and monitors and the alert descirption
is empty? At this webpage there is a lot of good variables that you can insert
in the alert description to get some information in it http://blogs.technet.com/kevinholman/archive/2007/12/12/adding-custom-information-to-alert-descriptions-and-notifications.aspx

Retry Count specifies te number of times the connection will be retried if
an error is encountered while trying to connect to the web application.

I have not seem that post, please post it to the group. But if you create
a web application monitor in one new MP, I guess you can look at the XML
file for that MP and get a clue how to create a web application monitor by
a script.
