Is it possible to activate XP file sharing with an api or command line, rather than the Windows XP Network Wizzard?
Howdy,

My application wants to allow our users (mostly in a home setting, no
domain controller) to share a folder on Windows XP without running the
XP Network Wizard or using Windows File Manager to authorize file
sharing for the computer.

What we want to do is automate the user action of using Windows file
manager to share a folder, right clicking the folder, and clicking on
the sharing property page the message "if you understand the security
risks but want to share files without running the wizard, click here".

The Netshare API will appear to work, but in fact sharing won't occur
until the wizard is run or the file manager message above is clicked.

Is there a command line, API, a service start, or WMI function that
would allow a script or program to authorize file sharing?

thanks

Jim Howard
