I have DHCP/DNS/AD on Win2000 Server, bunch of XP Users - all of that on LinkSys 10/100MB switch. Internet connection is on DSL modem and LinkSys Router with wireless (wireless service part as well as DHCP are disabled). This router is listed as a gateway in our network (not sure if that's OK?). For some time on Internet connection "disappears" for some users. All of the sudden users are not able to surf the Web or send/receive e-mail. It lasts for 5-15 minutes and it comes back. It happens few times a day (4-10) and affects some users (sometimes many, sometimes one). Restarting the main server (DHCP/DNS/AD) seems to be helpful. I suspect it is DNS but I am not sure. Some time ago I was trying to change the network card on the server and that brought a lot of issues, so I've got to return to the old one. I do not know if this could be the factor. Could it be failing hardware, like a broken NIC ? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you very much. Marek.
