We have a large project in Trinidad Tobago and are in the middle of making a mapping technology decision between MapPoint Web Services and Google Earth. The coverage of Trinidad Tobago is very poor in the MapPoint dataset. Is there a way to request improved coverage from Microsoft? Is there a way to add our own data to MapPoint Web Services for this customer? Andy
Andy, If you have a contract with Microsoft, you can send a request to your microsoft representative to update the data. If not, you can try to get in touch with Microsoft using their licensing alias at maplic@microsoft.com. You can utilize the Customer Service Site (https://mappoint-css.live.com/CSCV3/) to add your own points of interests by adding your own custom datasources containing locations that the user can search on. Also note that you'll need to register with an evaluation account with a windows live ID before you can have access to the CSS site. Hope that helps, -- Infusion Development http://www.infusiondev.com "andy.walker" wrote: > We have a large project in Trinidad Tobago and are in the middle of making a > mapping technology decision between MapPoint Web Services and Google Earth. > The coverage of Trinidad Tobago is very poor in the MapPoint dataset. Thanks Another option I have been contemplating is adding the desired road and location data to the MapPoint customer data service. Can I upload detailed vector and point data that would allow the customer to view detailed street and road information not available in the default MapPoint map? What are the performance limitations I would face? I talking about uploading a detailed street map for the two islands. Lots of data... MWS currently only supports uploading of your own points of interests and polygon points. Unfortunately the feature to add your own street and road information is not available yet.
