windows 2000 professional   

My system fails to boot (it gets to the Windows screen and then retstarts). I 
do not have an ERD. I have tried running recovery without the ERD but the 
system fails to find the old copy of Windows. I have the origianl Win2000 cd. 
Is there any way to recover from this type of problem without reinstalling 
Win2000?
