Hi, We have 5 people in our office and 4 outside that remote desktop in. We want to change from using terminal services for remote desktop to a vpn network for the employes who remote desktop in. We are running Windows Server 2003. Active directory does not seem to be installed. If I install AD on this server will it reformat the hard drive? I don't want to lose all the business documents and files. Can you advise please, what I should do. Thank you,
Installing AD (by running "dcpromo") does not reformat your hard drives. You should not lose any files already on the system in question, although running a backup is always recommended before installing anything. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/ph/3198?sid=1493 for any questions you may have about AD.
