XP Clean INstall Fails at first reboot
Hi, I'm new here. Reasonably techno literate and thoroughly exasperated with
microsoft - makes me normal perhaps ?

My problem concerns a clean re-install of XP on a rebuilt system using a
hard disk that was previously running win98 ok.

The install proceed according to the guides/expectations inluding creating
partition and copying files. But when it reaches the first reboot it cannot
find any boot information on the hard disk and so looks elsewhere and will
continually reboot from the CD if left in the drive.
I have carried out clean installs on other systems including new HD and
without problem and so don't suspect I am the problem.

Any thoughts welcome
Thanks
Ian
