pc will not boot
While trying to restore from backup on a machine running xp home, I
accidently inserted a backup disk from an xp pro machine. Now When trying to
reboot, right after the dos command of "boot from disk", I get an error msg
of "windows detected a serious problem, and shutdown to avoid damage". It
will not boot from the backup disk. Is there a way to force a boot far enough
that I can boot from safe mode, and correct the problem, without having to
buy a new OS disk? (xp was pre-installed). I do not mind buying a recovery
disk, but do not want to put very much money into the machine, as I have just
been using it for an external hard drive.
Or is it possiable to rewire (or something), to make the hard drive work off
my pc?

Re: pc will not boot
Even if Windows was preinstalled, you should still be able to reinstall it.
Call the computer manufacturer for their assistance in doing so.
