Worm/Autoit/.CEV -- has disabled System Restore
Please let me know if this is not right forum - choosing to best of my
knowledge!

Win XP Pro system
Infection from hijack - as far as I can tell - to an unknown "search engine"
site.
This infection was caught by Antivirus/ Firewall, however they are very slow
to answer questions.

I need to know:
1) Is my system secure if the worm is in Antivirus vault? i.e. can I resume
online transactions?
2) "System Restore" no longer works. How do I fix this? that is, without
losing all my data, files, and information. I have tried multiple restore
points; all result in"unable to restore" type message.
3) If I cannot restore system, will using WinXPpro CD to re-install over
current configuration help fix problems with registry (inaccessible registry
changes made by worm) and SysRestore? This used to work with Win98, so
excuse me if this is a dumb question.

Thanks so much if you can help!!! Thanks if you just read this.
(I have been on bulletin boards sinc 1995 and have been insulted by the
best, so please don't bother).
