Refering to article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490855.aspx Folder Redirection and Mapped Drives "Because folder redirection is processed early in the logon process, drives mapped via logon scripts (including the homedrive for folders other than My Documents), the folder redirection client side extension is not able to redirect to these locations. At the time that redirection takes place, the drives do not exist hence redirection fails." In our environment, the client's home directory is a mapped drive (H:\; mapped via login script). The Home directory is a shared directory (shared only to admins & the user) on server x. I get the impression I cannot employ folder redirection to the mapped Home directory, which would be ideal. Does this mean I have to have two sets of home directories? 1) The server side and 2) the location for redirection (i.e.: \\FolderServer\MyDocumentsFolders\%username%.)? Why can't I use Group Policy to redirect the client's "stuff" back to their directory already existing on server x? If I can't do this, how does folder redirection help? It sounds like it just doubles the workload on the server. I am grateful for any assistance in understanding the folder redirection and it's interaction with home directories, thank you. Mike W.

I think you would get a more knowledgeable answer from a newsgroup which specialized in your OS, whatever it is, but particularly if it happens to be Vista. E.g. Vista users could now have an additional complication if dealing with a symlink. > Refering to article: > > http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490855.aspx Last Updated: July 23, 2003, so perhaps Vista is not an issue? ; ) Good luck Robert Aldwinckle ---
