.net and Internet Explorer 7
I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 Laptop running XP media.
When I install iexplorer 7, it freezes up my pc and I am getting a message
that I do not have the correction .net version. It seems that this started
happening after an automatic update. Until about a week ago, everything was
working fine. Then I started get the R6029 message that the .net version was
not correct to run 'this' program. It referred to my sprtcmd.exe file [is
this a microsoft or a dell file?].
Then a few days ago when I went to a website [I think it was a microsoft
website], my pc froze up and I had to shut it off. then when I tried to load
windows again, it kept freezing until I removed Internet explorer 7 and
reinstalled windows xp.
At first, windows xp did not want to do the install and this page saying
something about 'if this is the first time you have seen this message,
restart windows. If it continues, something is wrong with recently installed
software or hardware." Then it did this memory dump thing that took forever.
Later when I turned the pc on again, the xp install started again. This
time it got toward the end when I got a message that said that the
"GetRequested Run Time version" could not be found and referred to
"ngen.exe', 'entry point not found', "mscoree.dll".
It appears to me that my problem is Iexplorer7 [I have NOT installed any new
programs or hardware] and I do not understand how this could be the case if
my pc is set for automatic updates. Shouldn't I have the most current
version of .net and with that, shouldn't ALL my other programs be running
just fine? I assume that like, for example MS Office, that the newest
versions run ALL older versions. Is this an incorrect assumption?
So, I used the viju666.googlepages.com program to clean-up .net [both
versions 1.1 and 2 were listed when I did the clean-up.]
Since I did this clean-up, do I now have to reinstall the most recent
version of .net? What is the most recent version and how to I install it if
it is not included in my automatic updates? I went to the update pages but
it says that I cannot use the update unless I am using iexplorer. I am
afraid to re-install iexplorer for fear my issues will start all over again.
I have spent 3 days so far trying to resolve this freeze up problem. I hope
someone can help me quickly - it would most certainly be appreciated. My pc
is my BUSINESS.
