EULA End-of-subscription question
I have an EULA-type question about my technet subscription. As I approach
the end of my subscription I'm not sure I'll have a need to renew this year
(maybe every other year would be sufficient to keep my testing environments
current, or I can just wait until there are updates to target software
packages before re-subscribing) but I want to make sure I fully understand
the ramifications of my decision(s).

note EULA:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/abouttn/subscriptions/microsoft_software_license_terms.mspx
and FAQ: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms772427.aspx

Technet allows a certain number of installs per software package "Each
individual product, however, can have its own license agreement, which will
control how many installations are allowed" (FAQ)- I don't recall where to
find the exact number for each different piece of software, but it is
certainly higher than my current usage (anyone have a relevant link that
shows the number of installs?).

My real question is about how licenses are handled at the end of a
subscription.

Hypothetical situation: Software X from technet allows 5 installs. I've
installed 2 active copies which are sufficient for current testing needs.
I'm expecting a new release of a non-MS software component after my technet
subscription expires. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to allocate budget to
buy a new test PC station until that non-MS component is actually released
for testing, so I can't just install the technet software early. Am I
allowed to use my 3rd install after my subscription expires, or are
licenses/installations only able to be activated prior to the technet
subscription expiration?

Similar question- if (after my subscription expires) one of my two existing
boxes has a catastrophic failure, can I re-install everything (consuming
another installation towards my hypothetical count of 5) to recreate the
same test environment that I had during my subscription?

Thanks for any insights,
Keith

Re: EULA End-of-subscription question
I have a question. When I installed Microsoft Office, my desktop icon images
went to a thumbnail look, instead of the regular image that came with it
when I created the shortcut from the web-pages I was at. How do I fix this
problem?

Re: EULA End-of-subscription question
Ker_01 - some quick responses - unless otherwise stated TechNet downloads
include 10 multiple access keys. "Otherwise" refers to Enterprise
downloads which provide 15 MAKS or a Volume License - details are provided
when downloading product keys,

When your subscription expires you can (legally) continuing installing
until all MAKS have been "used".
