MSDN Premium, getting started
Hello,

I purchased VS Pro with MSDN premium from a reseller with a good price.
Seems it is a volume license deal. Well, that's ok, perhaps I'll be
expanding.

I've registered, added myself as a user, and everything seems in order, but
I have three questions.

(1) If I just wait patiently now, will I eventually (within a month) get a
set of DVDs in the mail, and will those DVDs have everything I need to
install VS 2008, Office 2007, Visio, etc?

(2) I had understood that the product includes some sort of "virtual PC"
that lets me emulate various operating systems to test my software. That
is, be able to confirm that it installs and runs under the various flavors
of Vista plus XP and Windows 2000. I didn't see that in the list of
downloads. Is my understanding correct?

(3) I read somewhere that there is a one-time comprehensive "welcome kit"
media set that does not come automatically with my subscription. Is
everything in this kit available online? In particular, I'm interested in a
summary that says "here is a summary of the various nifty tools you now have
available, and what they can do."

Thanks,
R

Re: MSDN Premium, getting started
Hello all,

I got answers to the three questions cited above from a helpful "on-line
concierge." Wow! The answers are
(1) yes probably
(2) yes (and it is also available for free download)
(3) if I order my media as DVD, then yes, it is sent with the first
package, probably.

So, perhaps I saved money after all going this route. Of course, I then
have to pay yearly for the rest of my working life...

If you did get a volume license version, then it's a 24 month
subscription I believe (based on my experience), so only 2 yearly for
the rest of your working life....
