I can't surf the net and run my printer at the same time....
Help!

I can't surf the net and run my printer at the same time! When I do, the
printer disables my internet connection. How could that be you ask? After
several hours talking with very polite Lexmark technical staff, I have come
to the conclusion that my USB ports are in conflict. My internet capability
is derived from my Linksys wireless adapter which is hooked up via USB cable,
my printer utilizes a USB cable as well. As soon as I plug in the USB cable
for the printer, the internet becomes "disabled". That is, I think the
printer is taking control of the USB ports and not letting the linksys
wireless adapter do its thing. I ensured I had the most up to date drivers
for both, as well as all the Windows updates I needed.

Does anyone out there know how to deconflit USB ports? I have tried
different ports for both the printer & adapter but to no avail. Anyone have
some advice?

Thanks in advance for your assistance...

Please tell us which version of Windows you are using so we can help you
find a group appropriate to your question.
In general, follow this procedure to find a good group.

Here's how to get there via the web interface:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx

Click the + beside your language. then scroll down to Windows. In Windows,
find the category for your version of Windows. Open it and find a group
appropriate for
your question.

Hi,

At first I thought this was a joke, but actually it DOES make sense! If
you have multiple controllers on the motherboard, try moving the printer
cable to a USB port that's NOT on the same controller. Make sure the
BIOS is up-to-date and does not have "turbo" enabled. Make sure you
didn't mess with BIOS or over-clocking. Are you sure both cables are the
correct spec (e.g. USB 1.1 vs USB 2.0 etc).
