We have an MSDN subscription - I think it's the premium one - we get all development tools, Office, XP, Vista etc etc. If I download and install Windows XP from the MSDN website and use the CD key provided in my subscription, is this a fully activated version (ie. no timeout / activation required)? If so, then on how many more PCs can I do this on? I'm guessing there must a limit, but can someone tell me for sure and what it is? What about installing Vista - is it the same situation? Cheers for your help.
Just to clarify - the key for Windows XP Professional supplied to us on the MSDN site is of type RTL (retail) and has already been "claimed" by someone else in the office. Can this retail key be used to install XP on multiple machines? It's annoying that our MSDN subscription gives us a MAK (multiple activation) version of Vista, but not XP.
You should read the site for the rules about those keys. They may be installed for use by only one person. They may not be shared unless all people using a machine installed with that key have a MSDN subscription of a level to give them access. They may not be used for any purpose other than development and testing. No email, web surfing, playing music unless part of the products you are developing.
