RE: Windows media player will not play sound in online sites
I opened Windows Media Player (WMP). I was working with Version 9. You go
to the main menu and click on âtools.â Then you select âoptions.â
A window will pop up. You look for the tab that says âDVD.â Next you click
on the âAdvancedâ button towards the bottom. Now on the 3 machines that had
been having this problem (some were running WMP Version 9, and some were
running WMP Version 10 or 11) the screen/window that popped up looked like
the screen shot in the link below. After clicking on the link below, scroll
down till you see a grey screen with a blue banner that says âProperties.â
http://www.w3exchange.com/t674-3-a-bug-in-wmp-91011.html
That is the window that you will see on your computer if you have this
problem, again whether you have WMP V9, 10 or 11. Click on the âSystemâ tab
on your computerâs WMP window. Then make your computer look like the screen
shot on the above link. In my case, I had to deselect (uncheck) PCM and MPEG
Audio and I think one thing on the right hand side. Anyway, just make your
screen look like the one in the screen shot.
BTW, the one newer computer that did not have this problem had no âDVDâ tab
at all on her WMP Version 9. And here at work, I have WMP version 11, I have
a DVD tab, but when I click on the âAdvancedâ tab in that window, I do NOT
get anything that looks like the screen shot. So obviously, you only have
this problem in unusual cases where you donât have a proper DVD SW or you
have an unusual type.
