Office 2007 User Interface
My office has just rolled out Microsoft Office 2007.

As a veteran "power user" of more than 15 years, I cannot believe the
blatant disregard and disrespect Microsoft has for its dedicated user base.

I find myself continually shouting in frustration because I cannot find
basic commands in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.

In Basic Marketing 101, we all learned that the dedicated user base is the
most valuable customer to keep happy. Look what happened with "New Coke" back
in 1983 because a major company thought it knew better than its customers.

Microsoft has deliberately installed an alien and cryptic menu system (the
so-called "ribbon") that has crippled the productivity and intuitive
knowledge that enabled me to fly through daily tasks, which was built up with
years of experience with Microsoft Office.

You can be assured that I will not be buying and installing Office 2007 at
home until such time as Microsoft enables the user to select the "old" menu
or the "new" menu.

As Microsoft have declared they have no intention of doing so, then I think
you will find many people such as myself looking for alternative suite of
products - such as those being rolled out by Google.

May Microsoft and its "ribbon" device go the way of "New Coke" in a speedy
manner.

Re: Office 2007 User Interface
Perhaps it was because of the User Interface of their posting system, which
only had one forum titled "Office" which I could find among a list of
hundreds of groups, with no heirarchical indication that it had anything to
do with Macs, in a frustrated desire to vent my spleen.
