Re: Archive folders in Outlook 2003
Hmmm... No. When you attempt to Close the .pst, Outlook should complain
that it can't find it, then offer to remove it from the folder list for you.
Are you in the folder pane or in the favourites pane? That might make a
difference.
Have you rebooted? That might make a difference.
Outlook will open the Archive.pst once a month when it runs the backup. If
it says it can't "find" it, what happened to Backup.pst or whatever you call
it? It's a file in your User Profile folders.
Which OS are you running? Which username are you signed on with? Are you
using POP3 or IMAP?
Sorry: I have had that one when I renamed the backup .pst, and Outlook just
coped with it...
Cheers

Re: Archive folders in Outlook 2003
Oh dear, looks like it might be doing it own thing then! I'm in the folder
pane and have rebooted this morning but all the rogue folders are still
there. I don't use outlook backup as I use other backup solutions. I'm on
XP professional and use Administrator. I've even tried repairing and
restoring office to its original configuration but they still won't go away.
Guess I might just have to live with it.

Re: Archive folders in Outlook 2003
Hi Liz:
No, you don't have to live with it. I suggest that you ask the question in
the Community group that specialises in Outlook. This one is for Macintosh
Office: we do not have Outlook on our platform, so you've lucked in to the
group that knows LEAST about your problem :-)
Not your fault, the Communities web interface is as silly as a headless
chicken, but they won't fix it ...
Cheers

Re: Archive folders in Outlook 2003
Ah, thanks John! I'm new to these Community groups so didn't know I was in
the wrong place. I think I've found the right one now (hope so anyway) so
I'll try again. I agree with you about the Communities web interface, it's a
nightmare to navigate. Liz
