Running two computers on Office:Mac at same time
Several years ago, I purchased Office:Mac v.X ST Ed. and ran it on my
G4, sharing it with my wife's
laptop on our home network. This month I purchased a PowerBook Pro
which used Setup Assistant
to transfer all of my files and apps over to the PowerBook. Now, when
my wife is running
Entourage, I get a msg saying I cannot run Word at the same time, and
when I logged onto the MS help site, it says I can't run the software
on two computers at the same time, even tho we did it for several
years before I bought the PowerBook

My software came with three Product Keys. Is there any way to fix this
problem?

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tom!

Legally you may install Office on a desktop and a mobile computer
(laptop) but you're only suppose to use one at a time. The code in
Office can detect if you're using a desktop or laptop and should not
conflict if it detects the same Office key in use on another Mac of a
different type. However, if Office on a laptop detects the same key in
use on another laptop then you won't be able to use one of the
installations.

If you have three keys then you must have purchased the Student/Teacher
edition. Simply install a unique key one each machine and you'll be
fine. You may need to uninstall and then reinstall to get the correct
key on each machine.

Hope this helps! bill

Re: Running two computers on Office:Mac at same time
For some reason I cannot get to the Microsoft Setup Assistant. I have
trashed Office twice, and reloaded
Office:mac from the CD, but when I open one of the apps, I get the
Project Gallery page instead of
the Setup Assistant. Therefore, I cannot load one of the keys on my
computer.

Can anyone help me.

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tom!

Your question is different from the original poster's question. I
suggest you start a new thread for anything further. It will get more
attention that way.

Are you sure you're not running the Office Test Drive or that you don't
already have a key installed? To remove the key and bring back the Setup
Assistant have a look at this page
<http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/office/pid.html>.

Hope this helps! bill

Thanks, Bill. That solved the problem.
