You don't give enough detail to identify what the actual source of the
problem may be, but I'm guessing you're referring to downloading files from
the internet. If so, you're using a browser and that browser is not a MS
product so this really isn't the appropriate news group for your question.
It's the browser's settings that determine what happens with downloads.
Check its preferences for the applicable setting. In Safari, for example,
there is a setting on the General page of Preferences which determines
whether downloaded files are Opened after downloading. Or you may have
Stuffit Expander's Preferences set to automatically expand archives in the
folder you're downloading to.
Either way, neither is a MS product, so if this doesn't point you in the
right direction you might ask in the Apple Discussions forums:
