Entourage Randomly Resetting
Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

Umm. I'm panicking here. I've had my Entourage account set up on my Mac for a year and a half. This morning when I logged onto my computer, I had to reconfigure my email account like it was brand new. I've lost all my emails, all my addresses, all my folders, everything. It's like a brand new account. This happened about 5 months ago, too. At that time, I repopulated all my email addresses and started from scratch. What is happening? Where is all my data? Why is my account randomly resetting?

99% of the time this problem is caused because the Entourage user has
moved/deleted his Microsoft User Identity or parts within it.

Entourage looks for your E-mail data in one place: ~/Documents/Microsoft
User Data/Office 2004 Identities/Main Identity/Database.

The " ~ " represents your home folder. The "Main Identity" may be named
differently. If you've moved any part of this then you need to put it
back in place. If you've trashed the Database file then you'll need to
restore from backup.

If you find more than one folder at the same level as "Main Identity"
then try using Entourage --> Switch Identity... to reselect your correct
identity.

Hope this helps!

Usually this means that something happened to your Microsoft User Data, your
Office 2004 Identities folder, or your Main Identity folder, so Office has
"helpfully" created a new Main Identity folder. If you can find your old one
or have a backup for it, you can replace the one Office has created with
your old one.
