SAM Permissions Rest?????
Hey Everyone,

I reset the SAM permissions in the registry in a 2k3 R2 ADS server with ERD
Commander.

For some reason the renamed user name for the administrator was not being
taken by the system, it was a convulated username. Obviously I lost access to
the server. So, I used the ERD Commander registry utility and reset the SAM
permissions. This allowed me into the server with the original
'administrator' username account and password. I found the renamed account
spelled exactly as I had originally renamed it to. I renamed it once more
with a different username and it took fine.

How does this affect the system? Would it be better to dcpromo the server to
un-install ADS and then re-install ADS to reset the permissions?

From the workstations, which logged in to the server with not problems, have
started to loose functionality, the printers keep going offline. Is this just
a reinstallation of the print drivers or is it a start of the deterioration
of the system because of the reset of the SAM permissions?

Insights to these questions will be gratefully appreciated.
