Well, the Microsoft feature is completely voluntary.  For a few PS3 games, 
you have a mandatory install.

Also, "install" is not the same as "copying".

The 360's DVD drive has a maximum read rate of 15.85 MByte/sec while your 
typical SATA drive is at least 10x faster than that.  This means you could 
copy 1GB of data in just over 1 minute.  This would mean a DVD packed to 
the gills with ~9GB of data would take about 10 minutes.

By comparison, the PS3's install of DMC4, which is only 3-4GB in size when 
complete, takes 20 minutes.
