*blink* I wasn't paying attention.

Is there enough extra content and graphics goodness to make a return visit
in your opinion? Are there quite a few people coming back to check it out?

In order : Yes, no, who knows.

August 17th is the next update. In that we get the first step to make
going no or lowbuff viable by adding level 7 magics to loot generator.
At the very least it will make it easier to drop creature magic.

I misread the LTTP. Level 7's won't be on loot items til Sept.

I can't imagine that would be something that would interest a new player
"yet"... which makes me wonder if this expansion is geared to the new
player, veteran player or both. I was really hoping for a lot more new
lowbie/middle level character content so I could come back and roll a <????>
without going through the same dungeons and quests I did 4-5 yrs ago.

I guess though after that long I might have forgotten most of it.

They have added a number of new lowbie places it's just with the lack
of personal lowbie playing I can't speak of them. The expansion I
think is aimed at the highest and lowest level players with sparse
content between.

With level 7's on loot items, what is to keep a mage from dropping creature
(once full set gained of creature buffs) and getting arcane and melee D with
a melee D tinked wand and by default "breaking the game mechanics?"

Or do people already do this??

Having the option to return and seek out level seven jewelry and clothing
and such is just so freaking tempting...

You can already do this, and better, without level 7's on loot items.
There were 2 rings you could get that cast level 7's (caul), 2
bracelets for 11% increase which can be better than 7's, and live with
6's everywhere else.

Obie has already trained melee defense and it's working alright.

Couldn't play on caul due to lag and level reasons. For some reason I never
was very effective there even when I got to level 96 as a BMOg mage. Don't
know why. Had right at 400 buffed war. Are the quests hard to get those
two rings? Perhaps when I get back ingame (8 days and counting) you could
drag me around the island, I have my recall scroll I do believe.

> 2 bracelets for 11% increase which can be better than 7's,

That is with much higher level than I currently have I do believe. I think
the math is that you need 350 base for it to be level 7? I am uncertain if
it would work for me or not...have to check. Have any links over at
Maggie's site for these items by chance?

> and live with
> 6's everywhere else.

I would go to VOD (which is easier than Caul or other places by a LONG shot)
and almost die over and over again. I concidered myself a pretty tough mage
for my level at the time, and I was fully baned and buffed with 7's and had
either 55 or 65 starting endurance which I had especially invested in over
the course of my character. I think I had 330 health in my high 80's.

Anyways, you say "6's everywhere else" liike it is "easy" to run with level
six spells. It isn't. I know that it isn't because of the numerous
extended fights I got into which demonstrated to me that level six spells
would have me dead faster than I was already dying. We are not all 126+ers
Mauler, and I think that you have forgotten that your incredible XP makes up
for much of the spells that you do not run with.

Anyways, if I am wrong or perhaps you could watch me a bit as a mage in VOD
and tell me what I am doing wrong???? That is an honest invite (in less
than nine days or so, depends on delivery time of TOD from Gamespot) as I
want to get back into the game and see if someone can point out what was
making it so difficult for me right before I left.

Someone needs to check their math. It's 318 (34.98 which might round)
or 319 (35.09). It's also not base. Your buffed willpower and self
count since it only overrides the war spell. Which brings down the
needed base to 302 or 303 depending on rounding.

It's not like I woke up at level 199 and sudden went no buff. I was
in the heart of the Caul and Vod with only 6's and while it's a
disadvantage it's not overwhelming. The problem is that the game
needs you to cast them outward.

The level 7 spelled items ingame require an excessive amount of lore.
I think they are about 30-50 points too high. We are talking max,
spec lore, focus stone, level 7 buffs, a moderate or major lore, font,
and someone using the focus stone on you to activate.

My ingame time isn't what it used to be. I've no idea what was making
it so difficult before so I doubt I could be much help there. Well,
besides your inability not to lag out on Alphus. You should stop
that.

Heh, I tried on a ring a long while back while buffed and it lowered my
stats.
I never "retried one" and thus forgot about "when it would be as or better
than a level seven spell."

You can bet I WILL be shoping to find them (and searching mules) now that I
know they will take the place of a buff running that can get knocked off in
a trap!!! Ugh, if they are bracelet's only then I'll have to give up at
least one pack space to a D. I. which I had in a bracelet location...heh.

Thanks for info, will come in handy.

Yeah, they gave ya withered's so you don't have to cast outward anymore, but
I do understand your complain to a degree. Putting 7's on armor and stuff
makes your template look like the "love" of the month, heh.

I saw one that required a person to find one of those new gems or whatever
(rare?) to activate, it was like in the 370ish range (had like 3 level 7's
and a couple other stuff too I think, like minor focus or something.) To
think that if you ever let the mana run out or accidentally took it off
you'd have to get another rare just plain suxs. They should add the ability
to "tink down" the arcane requirement by 2 points per tink or something like
that. Or maybe they should just get a clue and realize the requirements are
too high.

Well, perhaps I should find SOMEONE to give me pointers, I remember I had
become a VERY war dependant mage and given up on drains for the most part,
which of course is very hard to do....so perhaps I just need tweaks here and
there in playstyle to make me more hardcore or something. Habits are hard
to break, especially bad ones. That lag issue I still cannot fix however
because we live in BFE and I asked the local phone guy when broad band would
be out my way and he said something like, "I got some duct tape heer, is
that broad enough?" To which I said, "no...broad band like faster
connection to the internet." And he said, "what is that, some kinda strange
fish catching device?"

So, I called up these guys that use radio-waves to send out broad band
hoping against hope that they could get me hooked up. They were suppose to
come out last Tuesday and check (they do check outs on Tues and Fri) but so
far no clue as to if I am "in line of sight" or not. Ugh. But I honestly
doubt that I have a LOS lock on their location due to the trees around
here...then again I did always want a B. F.'n tower....heh. I'll file this
under, "to hope against hope."

But, the lag issues for now will remain...and I'll probably stay just long
enough to collect all the new toys to cut down on buffing Epie so much,
(every "7" is one less spell cast that a trap could have taken away), get
bored with not being able to quest regular YET (heh) and then cancel the
account yet again for another "break." I get one free month with TOD, I
will have to really get "hooked" to stay longer than that.

The thing is that they are planning to build a school out our way and I am
just drooling at the thought because I figure that IF they do that the cable
and/or phone companies might upgrade the lines in my direction....which
would actually make the horrific traffic problems in both morning and
afternoon almost worth it in some sick sick way.

Nice talk'in (typ'in?) to ya again, my old patron o-mine.
