I played the invite-period right before it went retail. There are some
interesting things with GW. First, you are on one big server, but each
city can have several zones. It's possible to move between zones, but the
point is that it's like city of heroes where it creates a new zone instead
of portal storming.
Second, zones allow you to play, essentially, solo if you like. Although
it's an MMO, you can play (for a while) solo. After that, there's little
point, and it's DESIGNED to be a pvp game.
Third... pvp should be interesting. You get one spell/skillbar with 8
slots, even if you have 50 different abilities... and you can only change
the spellbar in towns. So, choose wisely! Compare it to a deck of M:TG
cards, where you choose your abilities for a particular fight (based on
what your friends might have, too). I never got high enough level to do
any pvping, although I hear there's an arena and you can just hop in and
get boosted to level 20 (the max) while you're in there.
