I might finally be able to beat this game if I can figure out just one thing: How in the world do you keep opponents from squeezing between holes in the wall barricades?

Don't build walls. Waste too much time and resources. Strategically place your peasants so they can get cover (in a TC or Castle) and build some units to protect them.
