AGE OF EMPIRES 2 PLEASE HELP   

I have a big problem running aoe2, i can get the game to install , no 
problems . the problem lies when i go to start it . double click on the icon 
as normal and i get the "starting to load " screen as normal ,but thats the 
end of it . all that happens is that screen lasts for a while and i get the 
cursor telling me its loading .it then goes blank and im left looking at my 
original start screen . ive tried running without any firewall, downloaded 
all the updates , running the pc backwards , installing and reinstalling. and 
now all im left with is to shout and inflict physical damage on the pc as i 
have now run out of ideas  !!!! to make matters worse aoe1, aoe 3 and the 
expantion packs all run fine !!!!! 
anyone have any ideas what its or im doing wrong  PLEASE HELP !! ps the aoe2 
expantion just tells me to insert the correct disc when the correct idsc is 
in the drive.

are you using a burnt disc or original? in some cases burnt games do not 
work, I would suggest going to http://wwww.gameburnworld.com/ to obtain a no 
cd crack. now this may work but then again it can screw the whole game up 
completely

hi samual thanks for your reply , the  disc i am using is an orignal copy 
from when it first came out . i have an up to date rerelease as well but 
neither work ! i have tried all the patches and none work . any more ideas ta 
free !
